So let's see what the team have made for you!

Nikky....I always love using my Graph'It markers, they're so vibrant and I love making backgrounds for my images with the blender and Mix'It Fluid and Palette....the image I used is Octavia which can be found here from Polkadoodles....
I coloured the background with dark blues and outlined some tree silhouettes...I dont often use the really dark blues so it was nice to go really bold and dark for a change. I took the dropper out of the Mix'It fluid and just randomly dripped drops of fluid on the background...I'd like to say I planned this planet background but it was accidental LOL. I then just got my blender and created circles and stars by spreading the fluid around before it evaporated off. I had to trim a lot off this as the card was going to be massive if I'd kept the background going as the image was printed quite large. I then added some swirls using the blender pen and then added rings around some circles to make them into planets using my desert island White Graph'It Shake pen which I cant live without....
I wanted it to look like she was walking on ice so I made sure the floor was done in a lighter blue and then added plenty of grey and again used my White Graph'It shake for the snow - if you scribble it on and then spread it with your finger really quickly you can get some amazing soft blends which are perfect for adding highlights into areas where you failed to leave enough white, I just love how the snow is coming up over here boots with the grey cast shadow underneath, I think this makes it look really 3D and icy.
Colours used: Skin: 4101, 4105, 4125, 4150, 3105, 3120, 4135&4145 cheeks
Hair: Neutral Greys

Background: 6190, 6185, 7190, 7185, 7175, 7165, 7160

Caroline ....I have used Oddella with heart which i think is such a cutie. I placed Mix'It fluid in a  water brush and picked ink up off the Mix'It palette, then put small dabs where I wanted them and went straight over them with a piece of spritzed jute. When i was happy with the whole thing I then lightly spritzed the whole background.. I did all this before i coloured my digi in.
Skin 4105, 4125, 4150, 3105
hair 9909 5520, 5545, 9506

Yvonne - I chose to colour Robin for this challenge from Polkadoodles Work & Play Festive Hollibobs which you can get as a digi download, a CD-Rom or as a single digi.  I coloured the backing card with my markers, namely 9101, 9102, 9103 and then I lay a template of stars on string (ok I made the name up but that's how I think of it), I then took a deep breath and spritzed it with my Mix It Fluid.
I coloured Robin with the following markers:
Skin: 4125, 3105, 3110 & mix it palette
Hair: 3105, 3110

Mistletoe: 5220, 5245, 8250, 8130, 8160
I went over the 'snow' with Graph'It Marker Silver Glitter pen.

Claire C I've coloured this gorgeous image 'husky hugs' from Octavia Frosted Winter Collection, I adore this image!! I created my night sky by colouring up with lots of dark blues and blue greys and then splashing on some Mix'It Fluid, easy peasy :-)

So let's see what the team have made for you!
As an extra twist we made the Design Team use one of the palettes below so you can also use these if you wish but you don't have to! Great colours to inspire you a little along the way!

Nikky...Wow, Nikki Burnette has some amazing art in her store perfect for us crafters to colour and practice! I picked this beautiful image called MINA when I saw the challenge. I feel like I cheated a little with the pattern but I really really wanted to colour this and make all that water - it just seems to me like this is a porthole and she is swimming through it from the sea and all that water is gushing through....I used the Blues colour palette but I had to add some purples and greens so in the end it changed, but hey! that's what colour palettes are there for - to inspire us and help us along the way.
The main challenge for me here was that I used the Blender and Mix It fluid and Palette very heavily on this image to give me loads of really lush blending and effects.

The Mix'It palette is a substrate which allows you to custom blend your Graph'It colours onto and then pick the colour up with a blender to give you a much softer blend....so instead of adding colour to the image and then trying to blend it out ON the paper, you mix the colour with Mix'It fluid, use the blender to pick it up and then apply - resulting in soft fluffy clouds like on this one - just keep using your blender pen to soften the edges as you build up the colour in layers....(you really need to do this with a brush nib)
I used the same palette technique on the water and on the tail - helping me create an almost luminous effect because you can add more and more layers without worring about blending everything out and making a mess - you need to practice a little first. I used my Graph'It Shake white pen (desert island product for me) to add definition to the water coming through the porthole and to add splashes.
Colours used:
Skin: 4101, 4105, 4125, 4150, 3105, 6110 lilac, 6130 Lilac cheeks 4145, 4135
Blues/greens on mermaid and sea: 7220, 7240, 7260, 7280, 6145, 6150, 6155, 6195
Reds: 5220, 5245, 5280

Claire C I've had fun with my Mix'It Palette and Fluid along with my blender pen colouring this gorgeous image from Nikki Burnette

I have to confess I've lost my list of colours but I used my blender pen to create the brick effect on the wall and I used my Mix'It palette to create the sky and candlelight effect

Yvonne - Hi there everyone! Well these images are GOR-geous! I loved the image I got to play with, the challenge was a stinker though! Lol!!! I used 'Serafina & Firenze' and you can find it here.  You see the rule of thumb is and always should be...........do the background FIRST! So obviously, I coloured my image and it took me ages and I was sooooo happy with it and then I remembered I was supposed to be creating a pattern........uh-oh! Then I thought, embossing folders, they are patterns and you get embossing folders with clouds on them, soooooo lets do a background with clouds.

With my Mix It fluid, my Mix It Palette and my blender pen I went for it and to be honest I am not 100% sure it worked, BUT I gave it a go! I coloured the image with the following markers:

Skin: 4125, 3105, 3110, mix it palette
Purples: 6130, 6140, 6150
Greens: 8290, 8270, 8245
Wand: 3255, 3230, 3120
Bird: 3120, 3230, 3255, 1210, 1240, 1280, 7125 (eye)
Witchy power glow: 1110, 1180
Greys added into to clothing: 9502, 9503, 9500
Clouds: 9501, 9500, 9101 - lots of blender
Sky: 7101, 7105, 9100, mix it palette
Mountain path: 9500 (base) dots of 9101, 9501, 9502, 9503, blender!

Oh and although I started off with the traditional Halloween palette, I think it's safe to say in the end I used both!!!! :)

Amazing colouring from the team, Wow!!

So let's see what the team have made for you!

Scatty Jan Wow totally how much fun have I had this week . I love using the Mix'it fluid its amazing almost magical . I used the lovely image Igloo Camp , also found on the Frosted Winter collection here . For the background I simple coloured over using 9205 (Green Grey 5) I covered that with a snowflake mask and spritzed the Mix'it fluid over, the edges seemed a little flat so I used a little piece of dishcloth a touch more fluid and voila! The checks on her coat were done using 3180. For the igloo after I had coloured it I used the silver shake'it pen and smoothed it with blender, my photos are not very clear in real life its so very sparkly.
Colours that I have used
Skin 3120/4125/4135/4145/4150
Hair 1230/128/1270/3125/1210
Reds 3180/5220/5245/5250
Igloo 9100/9101/9102/
Grey 7115/7110/7109
White Shake'It

I have used the super cute Skater from the Hollybobs collection and went with the blues and ice coloured palette to make my card.
For the background I created a little winter landscape scene by drawing basic shapes with 3 different shades, I then added the Mix'it Fluid by unscrewing the spray nib and applying it direct from the bottom of the tube to make snow drops.  I also used my White Shake Marker to add more smaller snow flakes.  To make it easier I die cut a little circle to make my background so that I wasn't put off by looking at a huge blank piece of paper :)

Graph'its Used:
Background: 7140, 7120,7101, Blender and MI Fluid
Skin: 3120, 3105, 4155, 4115, 4135

Kevin I had a lot of fun creating my background for my Carol singer image, Mix it Fluid is great for backgrounds. Claire C challenged me to create my project using this colour Palette.
As you can see I went a little of course but I did manage to get most of the colours in there.

Scatty Jan  Wow just loved making my card, I added in a brickwork background and the fishes using some altered stencils from my portrait . I adored the colour palette , and although the card took me some time I really enjoyed making it, I think I shall be using  backgrounds more often. I used the lovely image Princess Jennifer Latte Bubble Bath

Graph It Markers used
Skin 3120, 4135, 4145, 4125, 4150
Hair 3125, 3245, 1210, 3170

Fish/Towel 7220, 7240
Pinks 5110, 5115, 5120

Cara......I enjoyed the challenge of creating a background for my image and while it didn't quite go to plan - I still had fun trying! I layered lots of blue shades to create a winter sky and added glitter and White Shake pen for sparkle and snow. I used the image Princess Jennifer Latte Decorating the Tree.
Image result for christmas colour palette

Graph'it Markers Used:
Skin: 3105, 4155, 4115, 4135
Hair: 3190,3170,3150
Red: 5250, 5220, 3120
Green: 9107, 7220, 8190, 8160,8140
Background: Blue Greys

Nikky...I got so carried away with the background technique I did with the acetate last week I made 2 at the same time. I used the image Princess Jennifer Latte Happy Birthday to me from our fab sponsor...
If you want to know how I made the background check back at last week's post - the technique is exactly the same....

I added plenty of shading behind and under the Chaise Longue, I really wanted it to look like it was up against a wall and 3 dimensional...I think we often under estimate the importance of greys and shadows and lighting. I was really chuffed with how this turned out the pink looks quite velvety i think which is exactly what I wanted.
Colours: Sofa: 5125, 5130, 5160 with lots of greys added for shadow.
Shadow greys: 9400,9402,9404,9406, 9408, 9909
Background: 6185, 5160, 2150, 1180
Mix'it fluid

Kevin I had a lot of Fun playing with the background of this image called  Princess Jennifer Latte Bubble Bath.....
Graph'It Markers Used
Skin 4105.4155.4170.4175
Hair 3245.3250.1280

Bubbles 7101.7105 & silver glitter pen
Background 6130.6140.6110.5115.5110 & mix it fluid

What great background ideas - we all had so much fun trying these techniques out, it's so easy to forget backgrounds and leave it all white and boring so have a go!
