Wk 22...Frills and Fancy - Graph'It Colouring Challenge

Happy Friday, all!

Welcome back to another great colouring challenge at Graph'It.

We're very excited today because we have our first Guest Designers Hazel and Kym

joining us this week! 

Each month we will be choosing 2 Guest designers so if you love your colouring and love Graph'Its and would like to be considered then email us here and we'll put you on our list - we are now considering August and September designers so be quick!

Our new challenge for you this week is a great one, you can get as creative as you wish with this!

There are no colour restrictions to this so you can show us your makes with frilly ribbons, lace, whatever you wish it to be, you don't have to colour frilly or fancy lol!

Susan -I have made an easel card this week for a change and gone a bit OTT .I wanted something Rich and Lush and that's what I got

The image is coloured with my amazing Graph'It markers - if you haven't tried them yet, take a tip from me, give them a go you wont be disappointed. Don't forget to try some Ultimate Graphic 160 gsm card too, Nikky's favourite for colouring, it works hand in hand with the GI's to give you that smooth blend.

Claire C  Fancy frills was a good excuse to make a really girly card so I printed this lovely image out on Ultimate Graphic 160gsm card and coloured her with my Graph'It markers before going to town with lots of embellies and making some frills from lace and ribbon...

Skin 4180, 4155, 4115, 4125 (blush 4135, 5115)

Anjie - I have printed one of the papers from the Studio 12 CD-rom Picknix Collection 1 onto some card and made a box. I then printed the cupcake image from the same CD  onto some Ultimate Graphic 160gsm paper and coloured it with Graph'It Markers. I then cut some die cuts and stamped the sentiment and Butterfly from a Premium Crafts Brands stamp set. I used a Graph'It MIX'IT Palette and a blender pen to give the butterfly a water coloured look. I coloured the edges of all the die cuts with  Graph'It Markers.

Claire Boelema: I interpreted the theme slightly differently to my teamies. I decided my Frilly and Fancy would be the frilly, flouncy dress the image is wearing. I added a bit of lace,ribbon and glitter to add to the theme. I printed the image onto Ultimate Graphic Paper and coloured it with Graph'It markers. I added some pops of sparkle to the dress using the Silver Shake'It pen, which I dabbed at with my finger to give a more subtle shimmer.

Hazel Brown - Guest Designer....All of my colouring is done with Graph It markers with the exception of the green shades.

Kym....It is Kym here and I am delighted to appear here as Guest Designer for a couple of Graph’it challenges as I love my Graph’it pens. As soon as I saw this topic I wanted to do a summery theme. 

I have used my Polkadoodles Fredericka CD for the image and the backing papers. My colour scheme was mainly pink and brown/craft with a touch of yellow and orange thrown in. The Graph’it pen colours I have used are:

Let's see what inspiration the Design Team have come up with this week for you!...

Claire C  I love yellow its one of my favourite colours and for this card I decided to have a play with creating a background with my markers. I just scribbled on acetate in shades of yellow and orange on acetate, spritzed with Mix it fluid and swooshed my card through, adding extra layers here and there. I also use my Graph'Its to colour the reverse of the acetate butterflies before I glittered them. All the stamps used are from the gorgeous new range of stamps that Nikky has designed for Premium Craft Brands

Susan - These are colours I very rarely use but its made a nice change .
I have used an Image which was designed by our very own and very talented Nikky Hall for Tattered Lace Designs .I have used My Graph'It markers to colour the image which I stamped on Ultimate Graph'It 160 gsm ,this is totaly amazing card . All card is from my stash

Zoe - Well this was a challenge as these are not colours I tend to use, and I found I only have one orange in my collection. But worry not - I used my warm browns! So the girl is from Candy Doodles Collection from Polkadoodles. I layered the image on a mix of orange and yellow card, adding a couple of brads and some washi tape.

Cara....I loved this challenge, it's not very often I use Orange or Yellow in my designs so this was a lovely change and i'm sure I will be using it more often, the oranges in the GI range are so rich I love them. I used this amazing image from the Dollie Daydream Goes East CDrom, the papers, sentiment and even the shaped card template came from there too!

This week I decided to make a bottle tag using the fab template from the Doobadoo range (you can use the same template to make a door hanger too) I also used the laser art butterflies which I coloured with my markers. I used my pink grays for this challenge along with one of the darker pinks in the range to give me a darker more shaded look.  I also used the pink grays and blender to colour my background.

Zoe - So this week I coloured up a Saturated Canary image - I wanted to make a page in my Smash book for personal reasons and it suited what I wanted to achieve for now. I also used my Graph It's to help colour coordinate my mats and layers. My pink card wasn't quite the right shade, so I just went over it. I added a few die cuts to embellish including the hearts from Doobadoo which I also coloured black.

Claire Boelema - What a great challenge! Although I've added some pops of colour to the image, it has on the whole been coloured using Greys. I must confess to being a little worried that the image would look a little dull and flat but I think you'll agree that is far from that.

Claire C  You can get some fab effects by using your greys with other colours in the Graph'It range - you can create different shades and tones by either mixing on your Mix'It palette or by laying down a layer of grey before your main colour. I've used green greys and blue greys to add depth and shade to the greens and turquoises on this image

Zoe - I love the different greys you can get in the Graph It range, Green grey is fabulous for shading, backgrounds and, for me, it shouted school uniform!! So I coloured up this Some Odd Girl digi. I used the green greys to colour her skirt, bag, hair band and eyes. I also used them to create the soft dotted background. Combined with warm bold colours the green greys can become the new black!!

Cara
I love colouring in monochromatic and I also love colouring hair in lots of wild and different colours, the many varieties of Grey's in the Graph'it range are perfect for this.  I coloured the hair, eyes and lips of this lovely lady using the Green grays and then built up my card in matching colours to give a lovely monochromatic finish. I also used the Shake glitter market to add shimmer and the White pen to add the dots.

Wk 15 - Shadow Effects Graph'It Colouring Challenge

Hi everyone, welcome back to another Graph'it challenge day!
This week we have more inspiration for you on
Shadow Effects

Shadows can be one of the most useful effects no matter what you're colouring so I challenged the team to come up with the goods and boy, did they! 

Don't forget you can use ANY brand of alcohol marker to enter the challenge, just please follow our rules which are in the sidebar ---->

Zoe - I loved this challenge, adding depth to images with darker shadows is something I enjoy doing. I've created these bookmarks using a flower image from the gorgeous Dollie Goes East collection. I also added chipboard letters and a heart, all coloured with my Graph It's. I used a brown and a  green grey to add the extra shadows - my image shows the flowers coloured before I added the shadow then after and, of course, the finished project!

The Graph Its I used are -

Reds = 5210, 5215, 5220 & 5245.

Blues = 7125, 7130, 7170 & 7180.

Greens = 8220, 8260 & 8270.

Brown = 3190

Green Grey = 9209

Anjie - I have added shadows to where I think there would be folds in her top and skirts and around the image.

The colours I have used are:
Skin: 4115, 4125, 4120, 4115
Hair: 1210, 1230, 3110, 3140, 3180
Top: 7210, 7220, 7240
Skirt: 9110, 9102, 9103
Shadow: 9110, 9102

Cara

I love adding shadows to my images and I like to extend the shadowing around the image (I also tend to get carried away as I have done here and end up making a complete background out of my shadows). I like to use the same colours I have used withing my image to create my shadows as I think it can add an extra dimension to my finished project.

Pink: 5180,5170,3280,3255

Brown: 3290,3280,3255,3245

Shadow around image: 5170, 3255,3245, 0000

Kevin I really enjoyed this challenge, as I really don't use shadow enough of my projects,I did get a bit carried away with the floor but I like the effect...
