Claire Boelema - What a great challenge! Although I've added some pops of colour to the image, it has on the whole been coloured using Greys. I must confess to being a little worried that the image would look a little dull and flat but I think you'll agree that is far from that.

Water: Cool Grey 0 (9100), Cool Grey 1 (9101), Cool Grey 3 (9103), White Shake It Pen
Sky: Neutral Grey 1 (9501), Neutral Grey 4 (9504), Neutral Grey 6 (9506), Blender (0000)

Claire C  You can get some fab effects by using your greys with other colours in the Graph'It range - you can create different shades and tones by either mixing on your Mix'It palette or by laying down a layer of grey before your main colour. I've used green greys and blue greys to add depth and shade to the greens and turquoises on this image

So let's head on over to the Design Team's amazing colouring creations this week!....

Zoe - I love the different greys you can get in the Graph It range, Green grey is fabulous for shading, backgrounds and, for me, it shouted school uniform!! So I coloured up this Some Odd Girl digi. I used the green greys to colour her skirt, bag, hair band and eyes. I also used them to create the soft dotted background. Combined with warm bold colours the green greys can become the new black!!
The Graph It's I used are -
Green Greys = 9201, 9203, 9205 & 9209
Skin = 4120, 4125, 4115, 4155, 3210, 4145, 4135 & 9503 (dark shadows)
Hair = 4170, 4175, 5215, 5220 & 6160

Cara
I love colouring in monochromatic and I also love colouring hair in lots of wild and different colours, the many varieties of Grey's in the Graph'it range are perfect for this.  I coloured the hair, eyes and lips of this lovely lady using the Green grays and then built up my card in matching colours to give a lovely monochromatic finish. I also used the Shake glitter market to add shimmer and the White pen to add the dots.
Graph'its used:
Skin: 4115, 4150,4155,3120,4135
Green Greys: 9201-9209
Blender
Glitter Shake Silver
Shake white pen

Anjie - The image and paper used on the blackboard are from the fabulous new Work & Play Collection 3.
The colours I have used are:
Skin: 4115, 4155, 4170, 4175, 4135
Hair: 1210, 1230, 3110, 3140, 3180
And the Green Greys for the clothes are: 9203, 9205, 9207

Absolutely LOVING the colouring this week, isn't it great!

This week we have more inspiration for you on
Shadow Effects
Shadows can be one of the most useful effects no matter what you're colouring so I challenged the team to come up with the goods and boy, did they!

Don't forget you can use ANY brand of alcohol marker to enter the challenge, just please follow our rules which are in the sidebar ---->
You have until Fri 18th April at noon GMT to enter this one and the winner will be announced on 25th April. Our random winner will receive some fabulous Graph'It Goodies!

ENTER THIS CHALLENGE HERE

You can see the winners of our last challenge at the bottom of this post!

Zoe - I loved this challenge, adding depth to images with darker shadows is something I enjoy doing. I've created these bookmarks using a flower image from the gorgeous Dollie Goes East collection. I also added chipboard letters and a heart, all coloured with my Graph It's. I used a brown and a  green grey to add the extra shadows - my image shows the flowers coloured before I added the shadow then after and, of course, the finished project!

The Graph Its I used are -
Reds = 5210, 5215, 5220 & 5245.
Blues = 7125, 7130, 7170 & 7180.
Greens = 8220, 8260 & 8270.
Brown = 3190
Green Grey = 9209

Anjie - I have added shadows to where I think there would be folds in her top and skirts and around the image.
The colours I have used are:
Skin: 4115, 4125, 4120, 4115
Hair: 1210, 1230, 3110, 3140, 3180
Top: 7210, 7220, 7240
Skirt: 9110, 9102, 9103
Shadow: 9110, 9102

I love adding shadows to my images and I like to extend the shadowing around the image (I also tend to get carried away as I have done here and end up making a complete background out of my shadows). I like to use the same colours I have used withing my image to create my shadows as I think it can add an extra dimension to my finished project.

Colours used:

Skin: 4115,4150,4155,3120, 4135
Pink: 5180,5170,3280,3255
Brown: 3290,3280,3255,3245
Shadow around image: 5170, 3255,3245, 0000

Kevin I really enjoyed this challenge, as I really don't use shadow enough of my projects,I did get a bit carried away with the floor but I like the effect...

Graph'It markers used.
Skin.4115.4155.4170.4180.5120.
Hair.3140.3170.3180
Clothing.7155.7165.7170.7190.95019502.
Bear. 1180.1210.1270.1280.
shadows.9501.9201.1270.9403

Another week of great colouring techniques!
Don't forget you can use ANY brand of alcohol marker to enter the challenge, just please follow our rules which are in the sidebar ---->

Wk 14 - Colouring Crazy challenge with Graph'it...shadow effects

Hey everyone welcome to another Colour Challenge!
We hope you managed to catch this week's Create and Craft show, it was another whirlwind hour with not enough time to show you everything I had planned but more and more people are joining the Graph'it bandwagon which is fantastic news that the word is spreading about these great markers.
Don't forget if you have questions or need some help, ideas for colour combos and hints and tips to join us on our Facebook group HERE
where the team are always around to help you if you need it.

We are excited to announce that we have just found out we have another
Graph'It show on Create and Craft on
Wednesday 9th April at 4pm
where I will hopefully be showing you some great ideas and all the awesome samples from the team for inspiration! Create and Craft is on Sky 671 and Freeview 36 or you can watch online at www.createandcraft.tv or on TVCatchup.

I have a little tip for you this week which you might find useful...in fact, I've decided that each week I'm going to try and give you a little tip to using your Graph'Its which I find really useful, and hopefully you might too along the way.
So, my Nikky's Tip 1 this week is....
....if you find that you get a slight 'patchy' effect or a 'mottling' when you colour (this can happen with all the brands, not just Graph'It) it generally means that you're overworking the area and flooding a darker colour with a lighter one too much. As GI's are slightly more opaque than some of the other alcohol markers they actually MOVE the inks out of the way which helps to blend more easily, but because of that if you place a light colour into a darker one you can displace it and that can result in this effect if you overdo it. The key to avoiding this is to really make sure you have the right colour combo before you start. Don't forget that although the number system is sequential, the colours are currently more or less in PAIRS or THREES, so if you're having trouble blending, it's usually because you're missing a colour out somewhere. I see this issue quite frequently when I look at people's colouring in blogland and wherever it might be, and usually it occurs more with skintones, I think generally because we tend to concentrate so much on the skin we can overwork it slightly. I always used to find I had this issue when I used Copics too and it was generally for the same reason, I wasn't using the perfect colour combo and ended up trying too hard.
Obviously as the GI colour range is expanded more and more this will also help. It can actually be a bonus sometimes if you make a mistake - I personally find it so much easier to correct a colour error with Graph'Its than I ever have with any other brand which is something I found out this week when I was colouring a dark skintone which turned into a nightmare. I was determined I'd fix it and it took a while but I did, I was so impressed!
So - I hope this little tip has helped if you find you keep getting this or were wondering how to get around it and why it happens.  Anyway, enough babbling from me!

Let's get to this week's challenge...

We don't have a winner to announce this week as we are a fortnightly challenge now but we'll be announcing the Winners from Week 11 next week so make sure you join us for the results and more inspiration for this challenge too.

Let's see what the Design team made...

Claire  I've used an image from the Polkadoodles CD 'Pretty Tuff', masked him to create the wall effect with a mask from Dutch Doobadoo and a little distress ink. I used my Graph'Its to add colour the bricks as well as colouring the focal image. My shadow effect was created using the tube from an old biro to blow at the brush end of my Graph'Its, it creates a really fun effect...
Colours used: Hair: 3190, 3250, 3245 and 1210
Skin 4180, 4155, 4115 and 4120
Reds: 5280, 5245,5220,5210
Jeans: 7125, 9104, 9102, 9100

Nikky...I love using shadows so I often have a play around at how I can change them and add more depth. I love this little Ballerina which you can get here and I wanted to make her sit against a wall while she tied her ballet pumps...
This photo isn't the best here as it looks really intense and is much more subtle in real life, but I created a double shadow to give the illusion of more depth and 2 light sources. I broke the shadow up a bit by adding tiny white dots with the Graph'It shake white marker.
I used:
Hair 1210, 1230, 1250, 3110, 3125, 3150
Skin: 4110, 4115, 4155, 4170, 3110, 4145, 4135
Dress: 4145, 4135
Shadows/background: 9400, 9402, 9405, 9406, 4110, blender

Susan - .I have used papers ,image and sentiment from Work and Play1, this is an amazing collection and is available on CD and as Digi download ,and as always I have used my amazing Graph'it markers

These are the Graph'its I used
Skin 4125 ,4115 ,4155 ,4145 blush
Hat & Pants 9100 ,9101 ,9102 ,9103

Wk 12 Springtime pastels... Graph'It Colour challenge

Hello and welcome back to another Graph'It Colour challenge!
Spring is a-coming here in the UK, the flowers are all springing forth with their glorious colours so this week we have challenged the team to use a
Springtime Pastels
theme
You have until 4th April at noon GMT to enter this challenge and our Random Winner will receive a pack of Graph'Its to try! The Design Team will also choose their favourite Top 3 and we will announce the winner on 11th April.

When you look at the Graph'it Colour chart it can appear that because the colours are so very vibrant and rich, that there aren't any pastel tones, but this is very far from the truth. Pastels are very often represented by wishy washy pale colour tones which don't make much impact but by keeping the depth of the pigments so rich Graph'it have some lovely pastels to offer us. Try 5110, 5115, 6130 just for a start.

This week we don't have a winner to announce as we are now a fortnightly challenge but will announce our Week 10 winner next Friday. You can still enter that challenge HERE if you're very quick and get your entry in today!

Watch out for news of another Graph'It show coming up on Create and Craft at the end of March - we'll have more news on that for you next week : )

So, without further ado, let's get the DT inspiration!...

Anjie...The image and sentiment is Dollie Daydream - Sleepyhead Digistamp, which is also available in the Polkadoodles Etsy store.  I have made rolled roses from the same papers and added some die cuts.
The Graph'It Markers I have used are:
Skin: 4115, 4155, 4170, 4175
Clothes: 6110, 6120, 6140
Pinks: 5110, 5115, 5125

Zoe - I really enjoyed this challenge as I usually colour bright, bold colours so I had to rein myself in to colour pastels! I used this pretty girl character from Candy Doodles collection.   I created a simple white background using the fabulous fence & lanterns from the Doobadoo range as well as some pastel coloured flowers, gems & Candi from my stash. I also used my blender with all combinations to lighten and blend where necessary.
The Graph It colours I used are -
Skin = 4120, 4135, 4145, 4150 & 3120, Hair = 4150, 5140, 6160 & 3190
Shoes = 5115, 5120 & 5130, Jeans = 9100, 9102, 9103 & 9105
Top/hairband = 4110 & 1210, Dress: 6140,6120,6110,5110
Hair: 3180, 3150,3145, 1230, Skin: 4180, 4145, 4115, 4124

Cara...I decided to use my mix it pallet for this challenge to help me achieve a soft watercolour effect to my image. I stamped my image on Watercolour card which worked really well with the blender which I used to "paint with". It also helped having the Brush nib on the blender pen.  I was a little scared to use this technique before but now I've taken the plunge I really love it and will be using it more often!
Graph'it's used:
Skin: 4175, 4170, 4135
Hair: 3820, 3255
Pink: 5120, 4135
Blue: 7130, 9120
Green: 8290,8280,8260
Mix it pallet and blender pen.

So there's your inspiration from the team - gorgeous as always! Don't forget to please follow our rules in the sidebar which are very simple and easy. Thanks for joining us and we'll see you next week! x

Zoe  - So for this card, I used my Graph It's to create some of the background as well as colour the main image. The image is Emma Canning - Web surfing which is perfect for those boys young & old! So let's see what the Design Team have for you this week - and don't forget to drop by next week for some more inspiration for this challenge!...

Nikky...I might be cheating a little with my male colours but I really don't use yellow much for female themed projects and find I use it way more with masculine things. I wanted to show how you can apply the masculine colours but still use them on a very feminine project. You can see more of how I made this here.
Graph'It colours I used:
Uniform: 1230, 1250, 1270, 9403
Skin: 4115, 4155, 4170, 4175, 4145
Pole: 5245, 9403

Anjie...
The image is from LOTV. The papers are from the Pretty Tuff CD Rom which is fabulous for male cards of all ages. Wk 9 Graph'It colour challenge...Colouring Denim 2

Hi everyone and it's Friday again, where does the time go!?!

Last week we set you the challenge of
Colouring Denim
and this week we are bringing you some additional inspiration for this challenge with some more inspiring colouring from the team....

Many people seem to really struggle with choosing the right colours for denim and it can be a tricky one but this is where Graph'It really do excel - they have some great colours for denim and as well as the usual blues which most people tend to choose try using the Cool Greys and even the Green Greys for a really great Vintagey, washed out denim look.

You have until Fri 7th March to enter this challenge so that's another week for Denims - so come on, get your entry in and add your link HERE (please don't add to this post, it needs to be with the original post Linky HERE)....

Remember you don't have to use Graph'It to enter but please follow the challenge rules which are in the sidebar for you. The winner of this challenge will receive some great Graph'It stash and you have until Friday 7th March at midnight GMT to enter.

Now, we don't have any winners to announce this week because we've changed our deadlines to fortnightly to give you more time to enter, and today is the final day to enter our Week 7 challenge which was Florals/Love so if you didn't get chance to enter be quick as it closes today! We'll be announcing the winner of this challenge next Friday 7th March and there's a great prize up for grabs.

So let's move on to see what the team have made for us....
